Rational: Given the financial constraints and issues of technology acrossaccess to meaningful technology, the curriculum as itWestern Massachusetts Writing Project believes that educators can still utilize no-cost online tools for classroom instruction and student learning. Of course, sometimes "free" is not really free, particularly when it comes to advertising on such sites, or lack of technical support, or minimal applications. It's always good to be wary and knowledgeable about any site you use with your students.
Activity One:
Head to my Wallwisher
Add a learning experience for you.
Follow these links"sticky note" that explains one way that you have used (or tried to bringuse) technology with your students
I'll then walk you through how to the agendause Wallwisher
We'll brainstorm ways you might be able to use a site like this for eachyour classroom.
Activity Two:
Head to Make Beliefs Comics
Create a comic that makes fun of teaching (but be nice!)
I'll explain a bit about the three sessions:
Connectingworld of webcomics
We'll brainstorm ways that you might use the site for classroom instruction.
Activity Three:
Head to Glogster.edu (which is different than the World: Social networkingpublic Glogster)
I'll give you a login and password to use.
Create a Glog about a favorite book or author or television show or movie.
I'll talk about what Glogster is and how to get set up your own site.
Virtual Exit Slip:
We'll use Wallwisher again.
Which tool could you see using your classroom and how would you use it?
(Extension Activities)
Activity:
Head to Piclits
Choose an image and write a story
We'll brainstorm ways that you might use Piclits for teacherswriting and students
Audiocastingother subject areas.
Activity:
Head to Storybird
Choose a style
Write a story
See an eBook that I wrote with Storybird called "The Best Ice Cream in the Classroom
Digital Storytelling Across the Curriculum

And please feel freeGalaxy."
Activity:
Create a Search Story
Choose search terms, music and make a digital story

We have had so many problems with edublogs over the last couple of weeks as well and it is most annoying. I am a bit like Bonnie although I am actually glad that I am not leaving on a jet plane for a while as I have really enjoyed being home again on our farm, so my song for this week is "Take me home country road" by John Denver

Amy: Today I'm not working on my own writing, but trying to be be a helpful critique-r person...I took time out to visit your blog, just so that I'd have something else to ponder for awhile. Delightful twist on the "Day in a Sentence" routine! The following lyrics are stuck in my head: "Well, it's hard to be a gambler betting on the number that changes every time...she's a complicated lady, so color my baby, moody blue." Maybe the Elvis reference triggered it...but there you go. I'm feeling colored moody.

I think I may have figured this thing out:
I really like this prompt! But I really suck at the wiki. {http://amykenyon.edublogs.org/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif} :)
Anyway…my song is “Taking the Long Way” by the Dixie Chicks.
“I never seem to do it like anybody else…but if you ever want to find me I can still be found, taking the long way!” I left out a few words, but this sums up my inability to take the easy way or simply go with the flow. This week I broke the news to parents in my class that I am not a homework teacher. This is going to create some waves amongst my homework-giving colleagues. But I am still not going to do it!
